Activision Blizzard’s much-maligned sequel, “Overwatch 2,” still isn’t garnering much favor among gamers.
According to data provided by World of Card Games, “Overwatch 2” is far and away the most negatively-reviewed Top 100 game on Steam. The site analyzed the Top 100 games on Steam, then compared the ratio of positive reviews vs. negative reviews — and “Overwatch 2” amassed almost 81 percent of negative reviews versus just 19 percent positive.
The next closest game on the list was “Battlefield 2042,” which clocked in with “only” 55 percent negative reviews vs. 45 percent positive. Rounding out the top five were Nexon’s “The First Descendant” in third (47 percent negative,) “EA Sports FC 24” in fourth (44 percent,) and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” in fifth (42 percent.)
On a positive note, “Stardew Valley” was the most beloved Top 100 game on Steam, with a whopping 98 percent of reviews having a positive sentiment. “RimWorld” was second by mere percentage points, followed by Capcom’s “Resident Evil 4” remake (97.60 percent), Lethal Company (97.41 percent), and “Euro Truck Simulator 2” (97.39 percent).

“Overwatch 2’s” reception has been mixed since its announcement. Between the supposed need for a sequel in the first place, the cancellation of planned PVE content, the move away from loot boxes for a season pass method of distributing content, changes to pricing within the in-game shop, and the cloud of sexual harrassment eclipsing Activision Blizzard, the game has seen its fair share of criticism. Unfortunately for Activision Blizzard, it doesn’t seem like the negativity towards “Overwatch 2” will stop any time soon, as one reviewer eloquently put it:
“Do not recommend it.
They are milking the cosmetics with high prices and ridicoulous marketing, they downgraded the game quality from ow1 and brought nothing new (even lied on bringing new content). The devs probably can’t program or don’t have the experience cause clearly they themselves don’t play the game when they roll out the patches. Battle pass? Need I mention this? I put more money into boxes and had way more fun before than with this pos.
The matches have become more toxic and ridiculous to the point that in qp other players demand that you switch to the appropriate counter of the opposite players. If you don’t do this you are ridiculed for playing a single hero, if you do this you are ridiculed with “counterwatch”.
Out of hundreds of matches I met one guy using voice chat whose interaction made the match enjoyable and fun even though we were losing hard.
Tanks impact the game in a way that makes you feel that the match is walk in the park admiring the scenery of the maps to waiting patiently in spawn for enemy rein to stop swinging his hammer. The dps are for aesthetics, or to occasionally support the support heroes in scoring kills.
If you really want to blow time and have some fun go to the custom game lobbies. It’s more fun there than in qp or comp…”
