Despite the Negative Nancies out there telling you there were no good games released this year, there are plenty of gamers across the United States with the hottest titles of 2024 on their wishlists.

BetMGM organized the most wanted games by state, based on data provided by Amazon and Google Trends. Among the most desired games are “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” “Sonic Frontiers,” and “Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO,” among others.

Note that games that released fairly recently, namely “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” aren’t included here, but I imagine that game would’ve topped plenty of lists. Also, we don’t have data on games that have yet to release, meaning no “Grand Theft Auto VI” here.

Seven states — Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and Texas — have “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” as their most desired title, which takes the most states in the study. Tied for second-most are “Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO” and “Sonic Frontiers,” which took four states apiece. Wrapping up the top five were “EA SPORTS FC 25” (three states,) and a three-way tie between “MLB The Show 24,” “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy,” and “Madden NFL 25” which took two states apiece.

I’m most excited that my beloved “Street Fighter 6” took a state. California is a hotbed of fighting games, so it’s not surprising that a fighting game took the entire state, but it being an esports hub as well meant it had some stiff competition. We can also see controversial titles like “Mortal Kombat 1,” “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora,” and “Princess Peach: Showtime!” winning states.

Lastly, it’s astounding that the award-winning masterpiece “Police Simulator: Patrol Officers” won Tennessee — and just Tennessee. Seriously though, it just goes to show you that no matter what kind of game you make, it could be some state’s most wished-for game of the year. So put out that passion project you’ve been working on, because you never know what will happen. Happy Holidays, everyone.
