Freddy and Friends’ second film finally has an official release date. According to Blumhouse, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” will officially hit theaters on Dec. 5, 2025, just in time for the holidays. The studio announced the news via its social media channels earlier today.

The first “Five Nights at Freddy’s” film was a smash hit for Blumhouse, despite low critical reception. While the film only has a 32 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it grossed $297.2 million worldwide against just a $20 million budget, proving that there’s no room for critics when it comes to the mascot horror genre.

While no details about the second film have come to light just yet, we can imagine the plot will center around Mike, Vanessa, and Abby as they try to piece together the tragic disappearance of Mike’s brother Garrett, and how Vanessa’s father William factors into it. It’s believed the second film wouldn’t tell the story of the second game but would instead serve as a sequel to this film with a mostly-unique story.

In August, “Five Nights at Freddy’s” creator Scott Cawthon posted a teaser for the movie, with four screenshots of script pages for the film. Only one of the four was real — the other three were fakes.

This led the YouTube channel Film Theory to post a video about the topic, believing that a stuffed animal, not unlike one that plays a major role in “Five Nights at Freddy’s 4,” to be the real page.

But for now, all we can do is speculate.
